So this is it, the first ever Calm Escape.
If you're reading this, you signed up to watch someone try to build a calm online income from scratch. And "from scratch" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.
Let me be straight with you about where I'm actually standing right now.
A week ago, I quit my job. Eight years of admin, done.
I want to be honest about that. It'd be easy to dress it up as some bold, all-in leap of faith. It wasn't quite that.
The timing just lined up. I was leaving anyway, and this felt like the moment to properly go for it.
So here I am. No job. No income coming in.
Just a pot of savings that gives me about 11 months before it's gone.
After that, it's simple. Either this works, or I go back and get another job.
I think you can guess which one I'm rooting for.
Now, I'm not going to pretend I've got this figured out. I haven't.
I've spent years buying online business courses and quitting them. Chasing the next shiny thing. Feeling guilty about the money and the time I burned.
(If you want the full, slightly embarrassing story of how I got here, I wrote it all out; you can read it here.)
But here's the one thing all that mess actually taught me:
Consistency is everything.
Not the hype. Not the perfect strategy. Just showing up, week after week, long after the initial excitement wears off.
That's the part I always failed at before. So that's the part I'm betting everything on now.
Which brings me to what this actually is.
Every Tuesday, I'm going to send you one honest email. No fluff. No guru nonsense. No "I made £10k in my sleep" rubbish.
Just the real thing:
What I'm doing to build this business
How I'm doing it
What's working, and what's blowing up in my face
The wins and the flops, in real time.
Because here's what I reckon.
There are loads of us. Quiet, anxious, introverted types who are sick of the grind but allergic to all the loud, fake hustle stuff online.
We don't want the Lamborghini. We just want a bit of control. Over our income. Our time. Our lives.
I think there's a way for people like us to build that.
I don't have all the answers yet. But I'm going to figure it out in the open, and you get to come along for the whole thing.
So that's the deal. I show up every Tuesday and tell you the truth. You decide if it's useful.
Either way, if I can help even a few people who feel like I did escape the grind too, I'll call the whole thing a win.
Glad you're here. Let's see where this goes.
